Strategy & Operational Planning

  • SidePorch supported company leadership in building a newly-formed education business group by centering the needs of educators and learners. We facilitated enhanced sustainability initiatives and educational research partnerships with two major research universities and a sizable K-12 school district. This engagement required developing new operational frameworks within a global hardware company to create a mission-driven business unit focused on educational impact.

  • When the pandemic disrupted education systems, SidePorch developed comprehensive response frameworks for school districts in the LA region, the California State University system, and Santa Clara County. Our team created operational strategies that enabled these institutions to maintain essential services while protecting their communities during unprecedented uncertainty.

  • We build the 5-year strategic plan for an organization operating in nearly 100 markets in the US and Canada, creating operational frameworks for a sustainable organization with resilient culture. This comprehensive planning process began just as the pandemic started, and SidePorch enabled the organizations to better serve their community of girls while building adaptive capacity of future challenges.

  • SidePorch worked with an economic development entity to activate the state-wide job development effort, providing strategic insight and operational capacity building to enable elected leadership to build reports and create initiatives for a community-led, climate-resilient economy through stakeholder engagement and equitable workforce development.

  • For a municipal government seeking to integrate advanced technologies into their mobility and decarbonization initiatives, our team developed a detailed technology strategy, plan, and roadmap as well as a piloting framework that positioned the agency to best attract, engage, test, and then fully deploy fully field-proven enterprise hardware and software solutions for the region. This involved not only building the agency’s knowledge of available providers, but also outlining the policies and administrative practices, and further readying the workforce capacity to host a cutting edge technology disposition.

Network & Partnership Development

  • Through a Bezos Earth Fund grant, SidePorch worked with RMI and MPP to identify $100M-$5B+ industrial decarbonization projects in Los Angeles and Houston. We created partnerships between previously disconnected stakeholders to accelerate climate solutions, such as connecting financial institutions with community benefit organizations.

  • For the Department of Energy Inflation Reduction Act opportunities, we supported the Southwest Clean Hydrogen Innovation Network and the Southwest Regional Direct Air Capture Hubs. Beyond the technical work, we build a more connected industrial ecosystem and created networks to additional capital sources, bringing together government, industry, and community partners.

  • SidePorch developed the impact management systems for multiple clean-tech incubators, defining and integrating considerations into their due diligence and portfolio management activities, creating frameworks for funding climate technologies in communities while embedding equity and access

Capitalization & Resource Planning

  • SidePorch supported the founding team at an advanced energy company launch from a university lab, develop underlying KPIs alongside growth and investment strategies.  Our comprehensive engagement supported breakthrough technological and business achievements, alongside multiple, successful funding rounds.

  • Built a comprehensive fundraising plan and prepared materials for a new, BIPOC-led clean energy-focused infrastructure fund, resulting in a successful $500M Fund I raise.

  • We helped develop sales channels, marketing strategies, and operational systems that enabled the company to process millions of tests through seven CLIA labs, generating over $110M in revenue.
